Mike + Heather | New Jersey Wedding | Cobalt Blue

When Mike + Heather first contacted me, I knew immediately they were fun and easy going … from their super and I mean SUPER FUN engagement session at the Boardwalk to their beautiful wedding day filled with family and love at The Palace at Somerset Park. Heather looked stunning in her Enzoanin gown and Mike look oh so debonair in his tux. They had one of the sweetest first looks… that just made my heart melt…all the ways to their improvised Romeo + Juliet moment on the Palace grounds! Their ceremony was filled with family and friends…and we began the night with loads of dancing and so much fun between all with great vibes from Dash Of Class.

But, I think my favorite part of the nights was when I saw at the corner of my eye this beautiful pink tree blooming and we ran across the parking lot to take a couple nights shots that tied their romantic and fun night perfectly.

Congratualtions to you both!

“Our love story, has been crazy. We have been on and off since 2009. We have had many ups and downs, but it always led us back to each other. We were friends for about 3 years before we started dating, and then we went to a music event with some friends one night, and just hit it off, and started dating. We first originally met as friends though through my sister and my brother in law.  It’s one of the best things that ever happened as we not only found each other to love, but since my brother in law and Mike are best friends, its always just like a bunch of friends hanging out”.

Any advice you can give to future couples:

“Everything isn’t always puppies and rainbows!!  Never go to bed angry. There will be plenty of things that you are going to get mad at each other for, and yell and scream, but it happens. Just take a break, and remember why you fell in love with that person in the first place. There probably wasn’t just one thing, but as long as you never forget that, you can get through the hard times”.

“I would say definitely don’t stress the small things! A lot of couples focus on all the little tiny details of the wedding, and forget what it’s really about. It’s really about the coming together to celebrate two people loving each other, not about whether something so tiny and insignificant in a decoration is perfect or not.  Enjoy the engagement and planning the wedding together. Parents have a lot to say in the wedding planning a lot of the times. Sometimes its easier to give them something they want, because they will give you something you want.  Have makeup trials and hair trials, but don’t break the bank. Know what looks good on you. Don’t show up at a trial with something that you would have never before tried to do as a hairstyle and think your going to pull it off. Use pintrest for ideas, you will be surprised at how many amazing ideas there are on there, and you can always tweak them to make them work for you. Set a budget and really try to stick to it. When you are budgeting though, don’t forget to add the little things you will need too, like bathroom baskets, undergarments, tanning if you plan on it, getting your nails done, haircuts… those things add up and many people forget about it”.
