From the moment I met Joseph & Gianna, I knew this was a love story I wanted to tell… they are two of the sweetest couples and their story is just that. Joseph had his eye on Gianna after meeting through mutual friends, “what quickly could’ve been just a “summer fling” or a failed love story turned into the perfect match” – he asked her out on date and it was instant – they were meant to be – 3 months later Joseph asked Gianna to marry him and it was a whirlwind romance from that 1st date and continues to be…

They brought their cute puppy Jameson and he was such a star – posed and behaved the entire time with some treats to coax a lil’ of course. I love when couples bring their furry friends!

We then were blessed with some beautiful fall sunset light!

“Our inspiration for our engagement session was our love story. We know that the kind of love we have is rare and is something that some people never have the chance to experience in their lives, and we are lucky to have found each other and love one another unconditionally. We wanted our pictures to feel like your reading a love story or a Nicholas Sparks book, you can’t see the characters but you can use your own imagination to envision them, and that’s what we were trying to do, tell our love story through pictures and let the world see how much we truly are in love.

After our trip to Bermuda in July I knew I had to propose, and I did on the very beach that we met and now on January 7, 2017 at The Palace at Somerset Park; we will be married! We truly believe that when you know, you know, and with the full love and support from both of our families and friends we knew that it was clear to us and everyone close to us that we were meant to be together and meant for one another! We are truly so grateful and happy that we found our other halves and our soul mate.

We wanted our pictures to jump out of that book and be a reality and to do that we had to look the part, of course. When we envisioned our love story we pictured dainty, classy, and a vintage feel for myself and dapper, timeless, and elegant for Joseph. Of course I love Pinterest so in the months leading up to our engagement session I looked at the inspiration boards of others, and everything was very cookie-cutter. We are having a very non-traditional wedding so we wanted our engagement session to be a preview of that. My look was pieces mixed together of old favorites in my closet and new that I knew I had to incorporate in our shoot.

The tulle skirt was from and my black shirt that paired with the skirt was an inexpensive find from TJMAXX a plain black shirt that was fitted to fit with the skirt well. My black heels are my favorite solid black heels that I’ve had for years, my advice to other brides shooting for their engagement session or wedding day is choose comfortable heels! The last thing you want when your taking your photos is to be uncomfortable walking or standing because you can be doing a lot of it to get the perfect shot! My second dress was a black lace dress from Forever 21, cute, inexpensive, comfortable, and something I would definitely wear again.

While planning a wedding, every dollar counts so I chose pieces I would wear again and were hard on the wallet, if I could tell other brides one thing it’s that you don’t need to spend a million dollars to feel like a million dollars. You want to be comfortable, confident, and yourself in your photos and the outfits I picked were my personality and style. Joseph’s outfits were from Express. His pants, belt, shirt tie and sweater all came from his favorite store, some of his clothing were old favorites that he already had and the sweater and plaid shirt were new finds that all came together perfectly. Paired with plain black dress shoes he already had and he looked like quite the stud. We also couldn’t help but add our third member of our family our dog Jameson. We may be bias but he is the most adorable little guy and our love story includes him as well as he played a major part in how Joseph would be accepted into mine and Jameson’s life.

Our advice to other couples is to relax and have fun, we know for us we were definitely a little bit nervous, we are a tad camera shy. The experience is so much fun though and you really do feel like a model, Emilia makes it so relaxing and makes you feel beautiful. This is a once in a lifetime event, and the happiest time of your lives so relax, and enjoy it, and definitely say I love you to one another, that is after all why your there”!
